The Technical Training Department at the Electronic Computing Center of the University of Nineveh held, on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, a specialized workshop for university affiliates specializing in information technology and communications technologies, titled:
Increasing Lifetime for Wireless Sensor Networks Based on LEACH Protocol
The workshop was attended by:
Asst. Lecturer Omar Nizar Hamdoun / College of Information Technology
Asst. Lecturer Ala Basil Khalil / College of Information Technology
The workshop covered the theoretical and practical aspects of wireless sensor networks, focusing on challenges related to energy consumption, as one of the most prominent factors affecting network efficiency and operational continuity.
The workshop also highlighted the LEACH protocol (Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy), as one of the most important protocols used to improve energy consumption efficiency in wireless sensor networks. It relies on clustering technology and the periodic rotation of cluster heads, achieving balanced energy distribution among different nodes and extending the network’s operational lifetime.
The workshop witnessed notable interaction from participants through several interventions and scientific discussions that enriched its topics and enhanced the cognitive and practical benefits of the presented content.
