As part of the postgraduate skills development series launched by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the College of Electronics Engineering organized a scientific lecture entitled “The Importance of Internationally Recognized Academic Search Engines and Reputable Publishing for Postgraduate Students.” The lecture targeted postgraduate students in the research stage and was held on the morning of Tuesday, July 7, 2026, in Al-Khwarizmi Hall at the college.
The lecture was delivered by Professor Dr. Aws Zuhair Younis Al-Ashqar, Assistant Dean of the College of Electronics Engineering, who highlighted the importance of utilizing internationally recognized academic search engines to access reliable scientific resources. He introduced the most prominent academic databases, explained effective literature search strategies, discussed the criteria for selecting reputable scientific journals, and emphasized the importance of adhering to research ethics while avoiding publication in predatory journals.
The session also witnessed active engagement from postgraduate students, who raised questions and discussed the key challenges they encounter during the preparation of their research projects and theses. The speaker provided practical guidance and recommendations aimed at improving the quality of scientific research and enhancing the prospects of publishing in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals.
