Master’s Thesis at University of Nineveh Explores WDM Technology to Enhance Visible Light Communication Systems*

Nineveh, May 25, 2025** – The College of Electronics Engineering at the University of Nineveh witnessed the successful defense of a master’s thesis titled “Using Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) Technique to Enhance the Performance of Visible Light Communication (VLC) Systems” presented by graduate student Huda Fares Younis from the Communications Engineering Department.

The research investigated VLC technology as a promising solution for indoor wireless communications, demonstrating its potential to provide high data transfer rates and secure connectivity through visible light signals rather than conventional radio frequency systems. The study concluded that this innovative technology successfully integrates communication and lighting functions within a single system, offering significant advantages in device simplification and operational cost reduction.

The thesis examination committee comprised:

  1. Prof. Dr. Diaa Mohammed Ali – University of Nineveh (Chair)
  2. Assist. Prof. Dr. Firas Sami Haseeb – University of Mosul (Member)
  3. Dr. Ihab Issam Dawood – University of Nineveh (Member)
  4. Assist. Prof. Dr. Safwan Hafeeth Younis – University of Nineveh (Member and Supervisor)

The University extends its congratulations to the researcher and examination committee members for their academic achievements and wishes them continued success in their scientific endeavors.
