A master\u2019s thesis at the University of Ninevah \/ College of Electronics Engineering by the student Ghaith Ahmed Makhlaf was discussed on Thursday, March 5, 2026, entitled:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cResource Allocation Algorithm for Broadband Power Line Communication (PLC) Systems.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The thesis addressed Broadband Power Line Communication (BPLC) technology, which is considered one of the promising technologies for transmitting data through the existing electrical infrastructure without the need to establish additional communication networks. This makes it an economical and practical option in residential and industrial environments, in addition to supporting smart grid applications and the Internet of Things (IoT).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The study highlighted several challenges facing power line communication systems, including the varying nature of communication channels, impulsive noise, and high interference, all of which affect communication efficiency and stability. Therefore, resource allocation in terms of power and bandwidth is a crucial factor in ensuring quality of service, reliability, and improved operational efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The thesis presented an integrated framework for resource management in broadband PLC systems, based on a multi-objective mathematical model aimed at improving quality of service, energy efficiency, cost efficiency, and fairness among users under constraints related to power, spectrum, and signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The study combined accurate mathematical modeling with artificial intelligence techniques to develop a system capable of making real-time decisions for resource allocation. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in the system\u2019s responsiveness to environmental changes, achieving an effective balance between data transmission speed, reliability, and physical-layer system protection in dynamic PLC environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Part of the discussion was attended by Prof. Dr. Khalid Khalil Mohammed, the Dean of the College, who commended the scientific efforts made in completing the thesis.
