The College of Electronic Engineering at the University of Ninevah \/ Department of Communications Engineering discussed, on Sunday 29\/03\/2026, the Master\u2019s thesis submitted by the student Fatima Munim Al-Attar, entitled:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIMPROVED IMAGING QUALITY OF HYBRID BEAMFORMING TECHNIQUE FOR MEDICAL ULTRASOUND IMAGING\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The thesis addressed the topic of improving image quality in ultrafast medical ultrasound imaging systems, which is considered a fundamental challenge due to its direct impact on the accuracy of medical diagnosis. Despite the notable advancements in beamforming techniques, achieving a balance between image quality and processing time efficiency remains a significant technical challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The study reviewed traditional methods, where the Delay and Sum (DAS) technique is characterized by simplicity and fast implementation, yet suffers from limited resolution and contrast. On the other hand, the Minimum Variance (MV) method provides higher image quality but at the cost of increased computational complexity. Accordingly, the thesis adopted the Hybrid Beamforming (HBM) technique, which combines both approaches using the Coherence Factor (CF) to control the switching mechanism between them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The thesis aimed to further enhance the performance of this technique by integrating the Generalized Coherence Factor (GCF) with both DAS and MV pathways, thereby improving image quality in terms of resolution and contrast, while maintaining efficient execution time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The results demonstrated a significant improvement in image quality compared to traditional methods, with only a very slight increase in execution time, confirming the effectiveness of the proposed approach in achieving a better balance between computational performance and output quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
