The Dean of the College of Law, Professor Dr. Zeina Ghanem Al-Obaidi, chaired the meeting of the College of Law Council on Monday, 5\/1\/2026, with the attendance of all council members. The meeting was held as part of the ongoing commitment to monitoring academic and administrative affairs and organizing the educational process in a manner that serves students\u2019 interests and enhances academic rigor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The session commenced with a welcoming address delivered by the Chair of the Council, in which she welcomed the esteemed members, expressed appreciation for their continuous efforts in supporting the educational and research processes, and emphasized the importance of cooperation and collective action in addressing the matters under discussion. The council then proceeded to review the items listed on the meeting\u2019s agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The agenda included a discussion on determining the date of the end-of-first-semester examinations for first-year students. The proposals submitted in this regard were reviewed, taking into consideration the academic reality and the time allocated for completing curricula, in a way that ensures academic fairness and provides students with sufficient time for preparation, in accordance with the approved instructions and regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In consideration of students\u2019 general circumstances, the council also addressed the issue of postponing the academic year and reducing tuition fees for certain students. This matter was discussed in a responsible and humane manner, with the aim of achieving social justice, while emphasizing adherence to instructions issued by the competent authorities and maintaining the quality of the educational process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The council further discussed the mechanism for preparing the curriculum guide, stressing the importance of developing a clear and comprehensive academic guide that contributes to unifying academic perspectives, organizing course content, and updating it in line with scientific developments in the field of law, thereby serving both students and teaching staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition, the council examined the issue of granting scientific leave to some faculty members, highlighting its significance in supporting scientific research, encouraging high-quality scholarly output, and advancing the academic level, which positively reflects on the college\u2019s scientific standing and enhances its academic reputation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Dean commended the valuable efforts exerted by faculty members and supporting administrative staff in advancing the educational process.
