In alignment with the strategic vision of the University of Ninevah to promote high-quality scientific output and expand engagement with internationally indexed journals, and as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance its academic ranking and strengthen its research presence, two faculty members from the College of Pharmacy have published a research paper in a globally recognized journal indexed in international databases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs at the College of Pharmacy, Dr. Omar Dhanoon Dawood, and lecturer Mais Muzahim Al-Khayat published a research paper entitled:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSmoking status among hypertensive patients in Mosul, Iraq: A cross-sectional study\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The paper was published in the Journal of Education and Health Promotion (JEHP), a journal indexed in the international Scopus database.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The study analyzed the prevalence and patterns of smoking among patients with hypertension in the city of Mosul, highlighting the demographic factors associated with this health behavior. The findings revealed a high prevalence of smoking among hypertensive patients, which contributes to increased cardiovascular risks and negatively affects treatment effectiveness and pharmacological response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The study recommended integrating smoking cessation programs into healthcare plans provided to patients with hypertension as a fundamental step toward reducing complications and improving therapeutic outcomes. It also emphasized the importance of health education and preventive interventions in enhancing public health at the community level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This achievement represents a valuable addition to the research portfolio of the College of Pharmacy and reflects the faculty members\u2019 commitment to actively contributing to addressing priority health issues at both the local and international levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
