Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Law, Prof. Dr. Zeina Ghanem Al-Obaidi, the College organized a solemn memorial stand on Monday, 27 October 2025, to honor the late Lecturer Hussein Akla Al-Khafaji, a faculty member in the Department of Public Law, whose academic and humane contributions left a lasting impact on the College.
The memorial was attended by the Dean, the Assistant Deans for Administrative and Scientific Affairs, heads of the Public and Private Law Departments, along with a large group of faculty, staff, and students, reflecting deep appreciation for the late lecturer’s dedication and service.
The ceremony opened with the recitation of Al-Fatiha for the soul of the deceased, followed by a heartfelt speech delivered by the Dean, who expressed profound sorrow for the loss and highlighted his distinguished academic journey, noble character, and unwavering commitment to his work.
Additional remarks were delivered by the Assistant Deans and department heads, who emphasized Mr. Al-Khafaji’s significant contributions to teaching, research, and the development of legal education at the College. A student from the University of Nineveh’s College of Medicine also delivered an emotional tribute, affirming that his legacy will remain alive in the hearts of his students.
At the conclusion of the memorial, attendees expressed their deep grief over the passing of one of the College’s respected pillars, praying for mercy upon his soul and patience for his family and loved ones.
May God have mercy on the late Lecturer Hussein Akla Al-Khafaji and reward him for his dedication to education and service to his students and colleagues.
