Under the directives of the President of the University of Nineveh, Prof. Dr. Osama Ismail Al-Mashhadani, and with the direct support of the Dean of the College of Law, Prof. Dr. Zina Ghanem Al-Ubaidi, the College of Law organized a workshop as part of its ongoing scientific and awareness activities. The event, held on Sunday, 9/11/2025, was titled “Safety and Security Procedures in Buildings and Government Institutions”, and aimed to raise awareness among students and staff about the importance of implementing safety standards and ensuring a secure and stable work environment.

The workshop was led by Ms. Aswan Najah Al-Din, Quality Assurance and University Performance Officer, who addressed several key aspects of safety and security procedures, including:

  • Building design and emergency exits
  • Fire alarm and extinguishing systems
  • Electrical safety and equipment maintenance
  • Emergency and evacuation plans
  • Procedures for handling chlorine gas and chemical hazards
  • Elevator safety
  • Health protocols and the protection of government data and documents

The workshop emphasized that safety and security procedures are fundamental to ensuring a stable working environment in governmental institutions. These procedures involve implementing safe structural designs, effective alarm and fire-fighting systems, routine maintenance of electrical equipment, emergency drills, protocols for hazardous chemicals, elevator safety, and safeguarding data and documents. Instilling a culture of safety is essential for achieving a secure environment that supports sustainable institutional development.

Participants actively engaged in the workshop, highlighting the importance of combining legal knowledge with practical safety measures, thereby contributing to the development of qualified legal professionals and staff capable of managing risks efficiently.
