In accordance with the directives of the President of the University of Nineveh, Prof. Dr. Osama Ismail Al-Mashhadani, and under the direct supervision of the Dean of the College of Law, Prof. Dr. Zeina Ghanem Al-Obaidi, the University Psychological Counseling Unit at the College of Law organized a workshop on Sunday, October 12, 2025, titled “Duties of the University Psychological Counseling Unit Officer.” The event was held in Engineer Imad Al-Mirza Hall at the College.

The workshop was presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Manal Mohammed Ahmed, Head of the University Psychological Counseling Unit, and Lecturer Nihad Omar Rashid from the Department of Public Law.

The lecture focused on the essential duties of the University Psychological Counseling Unit Officer, who plays a pivotal role in providing the necessary support to students—helping them reach their full potential and overcome challenges that may arise during their academic journey. The session also highlighted the officer’s responsibility in supervising and implementing academic, psychological, and social counseling programs and services within the college. Moreover, the officer serves as a vital link between students and the administration, as well as between students and their academic or psychological counselors.

The workshop further clarified that the role of the Counseling Unit Officer combines both organizational and interpersonal skills. Responsibilities include organizing academic counseling programs, monitoring the academic performance of students with low achievement, providing psychological and social support, organizing workshops and awareness programs, and following up on student complaints related to academic or educational issues. The officer is also tasked with coordinating with relevant departments to address and resolve such matters effectively.

These efforts collectively contribute to enhancing the overall university experience for students and improving the quality and outcomes of higher education.
