The Dean of the College of Law, Prof. Dr. Zeina Ghanem Al-Obaidi, participated in the proceedings of the International Scientific Conference organized by the College of Law at Al-Urooq University under the title “Keeping Pace with Scientific and Technological Developments: Artificial Intelligence”, held on October 18, 2025, with the participation of a distinguished group of researchers and specialists from various countries and universities.
During the conference, Prof. Dr. Al-Obaidi presented a scientific research paper entitled “The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Protecting Intellectual Property Rights.” In her paper, she highlighted the growing interconnection between rapid technological advancement and the challenges of preserving creative and innovative rights—particularly as artificial intelligence systems evolve to generate content resembling human intellectual works.
Prof. Dr. Al-Obaidi’s presentation explored several key themes reflecting the complex realities surrounding the use of artificial intelligence. She explained that, despite the potential risks of AI tools contributing to intellectual property infringements through content generation, these same technologies also offer unprecedented opportunities to enhance the protection and monitoring of intellectual property rights in the digital sphere.
Her participation received wide recognition and praise from attendees for its balanced and comprehensive perspective on emerging challenges and proposed solutions. The Dean’s contribution also represented a distinguished academic presence that reflects the high scientific standing of the University of Nineveh and its research centers, while reinforcing the pivotal role of Arab scholars in shaping the future of legislation and innovation protection technologies in the digital age.
