In accordance with the directives of the President of the University of Nineveh, Prof. Dr. Osama Ismail Al-Mashhadani, and with the direct support of the Dean of the College of Law, Prof. Dr. Zeina Ghanem Al-Obaidi, and as part of the joint cooperation agreement with the University of Mosul, a faculty member from the College of Law / Department of Public Law, Lecturer Hussein Okla Al-Khafaji, participated in a workshop entitled “Fundamentals of Voluntary Work” held at the College of Dentistry.
The workshop aimed to promote the spirit of initiative and social responsibility among individuals and covered several key themes, including the concept and importance of voluntary work in achieving sustainable development, the skills of a successful volunteer, and methods for organizing time and effort to serve the community effectively. It also highlighted inspiring success stories of volunteer initiatives that created a positive impact in society, as well as mechanisms for establishing volunteer teams and building partnerships with governmental and civil institutions.
During the session, Lecturer Hussein Okla emphasized that voluntary work strengthens the values of cooperation and belonging while providing individuals with opportunities to gain experience and develop leadership and social skills. He also stressed the importance of engaging youth energies in volunteer projects that contribute to environmental preservation, assisting those in need, and raising awareness on various social issues.
At the conclusion of the workshop, participants were encouraged to take part in ongoing initiatives in the fields of education, health, and environment.
Workshops of this kind represent an important step toward building a community that values giving and recognizes that volunteering is not merely a humanitarian act, but a noble mission that contributes to national progress and fosters unity among its citizens.
