Presided over by the Dean of the College of Law, Prof. Dr. Zina Ghanem Al-Ubaidi, the Editorial Board of Nineveh Journal for Legal Studies held its regular meeting today, Wednesday, 5/11/2025, at the College of Law. The meeting was attended by the Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Luqman Othman Ahmed, and the Head of the Journal Unit at the College of Law, Dr. Mohammed Nouri, to discuss the latest developments related to the journal’s work and to evaluate the Board’s performance in light of the approved research plans.
The Dean opened the meeting with a welcoming speech in which she praised the efforts exerted by the board members to elevate the scientific and research standards of the journal. She emphasized the importance of strengthening the journal’s standing among peer-reviewed academic journals, in a way that contributes to advancing its ranking locally and internationally.
Several key topics were discussed during the meeting, including:
- Reviewing the research papers submitted to the journal and ensuring they meet academic publishing standards and research ethics.
- Developing the peer-review process to ensure timely completion and accurate evaluation, with the adoption of clear criteria for assigning papers to reviewers.
- Discussing updates to the journal’s publication guidelines to align with global scholarly publishing requirements and international indexing databases.
- Reviewing the plan for the upcoming issue and distributing tasks among editorial board members according to their specializations.
- Exploring ways to expand academic collaboration with other universities and journals to exchange expertise and enhance scholarly communication.
- Proposing the formation of a subcommittee to follow up on the technical and production aspects of the journal, including electronic design and the official website.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Dean stressed the importance of adhering to the assigned timelines in order to advance the journal toward the ranks of reputable scientific publications.
It was also agreed to set the date for the next meeting to follow up on the implementation of the recommendations and review progress on the objectives of the editorial plan for the current academic year.
