As part of ongoing efforts to promote the values of social peace and strengthen the principles of coexistence among the diverse components of society, the University Psychological Guidance Unit at the College of Law organized a distinguished scientific seminar on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, entitled “Enhancing Community Security and Protecting Diversity and Peaceful Coexistence.” The event was held under the slogan: “A Unified Federal Iraq… Security Governed by Justice and Equality for the Achievement of Stability and Development.”

The seminar commenced with a speech by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Zeina Ghanem Al-Obaidi, who emphasized the importance of collectively standing for justice against hatred, for equality against discrimination, and for coexistence against division.

The seminar was honored by the esteemed presence of:

  • Mr. Basim Mohammed Al-Bayati, Director of the Shiite Endowment Office
  • Dr. Fathi Al-Hayani, Director of the Center for Peacebuilding and Peaceful Coexistence
  • Mr. Mohammed Hassan Al-Kubaisi, Director of the Sunni Endowment Office
  • Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Awwad, Director of the Media and Government Communication Department at the Presidency of the University of Nineveh

Their participation added significant value and importance to the seminar’s proceedings.

The seminar featured a series of relevant research papers, including:

  1. “Paths to Achieving Peaceful Coexistence” presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Fathi Al-Hayani, Director of the Peacebuilding Center at the University of Mosul
  2. “The Role of Institutions in Enhancing Community Security and Protecting Diversity and Peaceful Coexistence” presented by Dr. Jumaa Faraj
  3. “Challenges Threatening Community Security” presented by Dr. Raed Ismail
  4. “From Constitutional Text to Social Reality: Equality and Non-Discrimination as an Entry Point to Strengthening Civil Peace in Iraq” presented by Dr. Mohammed Nouri
  5. “Toward New Concepts for Enhancing Community Security and Peaceful Coexistence” presented by Dr. Manal Mohammed Ahmed

The seminar also included a recognition ceremony honoring the contributors of outstanding research papers, where commemorative shields were awarded in appreciation of their academic efforts. Additionally, copies of the Nineveh Journal for Legal Studies were distributed in support of academic activity and to encourage rigorous research that contributes to serving and developing society.

This seminar reflected the importance of joint collaboration between academic and religious institutions in building a cohesive society characterized by security and justice—one that embraces diversity as a source of strength rather than division. Such efforts align with the aspirations of a unified Iraq progressing steadily toward stability and sustainable development.
