“An Inspection Visit by the Safety Committee to the College of Pharmacy to Follow Up on Chemical and Biological Security Requirements”

As part of the University of Ninevah’s commitment to fostering a safe educational and laboratory environment in line with the highest standards of university safety, a committee from the University Presidency, headed by Dr. Ahmed Hamdoun, Head of the Chemical and Biological Safety and Security Division, conducted a field visit to the College of Pharmacy on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. The visit aimed to follow up on the implementation of chemical, biological, and radiological safety and security requirements in both teaching and research laboratories.

The committee was received by the College’s Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Omar Thannon, and the Head of the Chemical and Biological Safety and Security Unit at the College, Dr. Elias Jassim, who accompanied the delegation on a tour of several laboratories. The tour included an overview of procedures for chemical inventory management, classification of dual-use materials, and verification of compliance with approved regulations and guidelines.

The purpose of the visit was to assess laboratory readiness and ensure the College’s adherence to occupational and environmental safety standards, thereby safeguarding students, faculty, and technical staff, while also supporting the quality of academic and research performance at the College.

This visit comes within the framework of the University’s periodic program designed to strengthen a culture of safety and to ensure a secure university environment for all its members.
