As part of its ongoing efforts to promote a culture of safety and prevention among its members, the College of Pharmacy at the University of Nineveh organized an awareness lecture on Sunday, June 29, 2025, titled “Types of Fire Extinguishers and Their Uses.” The event was held in collaboration with the Civil Defense Unit at the college and took place in the college’s main hall, with broad participation from faculty, staff, and students.
The lecture was delivered by Mr. Moel Amir Younis, an officer from the Nineveh Civil Defense Directorate. He provided a comprehensive theoretical overview of the different types of fire extinguishers, their mechanisms of action, and their suitability for various classes of fires. He also reviewed key safety guidelines for emergency situations.
The event included a live field demonstration held outside the college building, where participants observed how each type of extinguisher is used in simulated fire scenarios. This hands-on segment allowed attendees to engage directly and practice proper fire safety techniques.
The event was attended by the Dean of the College, Dr. Maisar Mohammed Ali Al-Qutaji, along with several faculty members and students, who expressed their appreciation for the valuable initiative that fosters preventive awareness and strengthens emergency response skills.
This activity is part of a broader series of awareness-raising initiatives organized by the college administration, reflecting its commitment to building a safe and resilient university environment.
