The College of Pharmacy at the University of Nineveh organizes an awareness-raising scientific symposium entitled “Early Detection… Health and Life.”

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Osama Ismail Al-Mashhadani, President of the University of Nineveh, and under the direct supervision and presence of Asst. Prof. Dr. Maysar Mohammed Ali Al-Qutji, Dean of the College of Pharmacy, with the participation of Asst. Dr. Omar Thanon, Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs, the College of Pharmacy organized an awareness-raising scientific symposium entitled “Early Detection… Health and Life” on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The symposium commenced with a series of educational lectures delivered by a distinguished group of physicians from the Nineveh Health Directorate, namely:

1. Dr. Ruba Ahmed Mahmoud – Specialist in General Surgery

2. Dr. Saja Mohammed Othman – Specialist in General Surgery

3. Dr. Sahar Mohammed Najib – Specialist in General Surgery

The event witnessed a wide attendance from faculty members, administrative staff, and students of the college. The lectures addressed vital topics highlighting the importance of early detection of breast cancer, modern diagnostic methods, and the significance of regular screening as a means of prevention and early intervention to reduce disease progression.

The symposium also included free clinical examinations for female attendees, conducted under the supervision of the participating physicians. Additionally, students of the College of Pharmacy presented informative awareness activities emphasizing the role of community education in combating breast cancer. The sessions were enriched by interactive discussions and scientific interventions, which added depth and valuable recommendations to the event.

At the conclusion of the symposium, the Dean of the College presented certificates of appreciation to the participating doctors in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the success of the event and their efforts in promoting health awareness among university students.

On the sidelines of the symposium, an awareness exhibition was inaugurated, featuring a collection of scientific posters, artistic pieces, and handcrafted works creatively designed by the college’s students—embodying the College of Pharmacy’s mission of integrating science and humanity in service to the community.
