As part of the activities of the Continuing Education Unit, and in line with the College of Pharmacy – University of Ninevah’s commitment to promoting safety principles and enhancing the competence of staff and students in the laboratory work environment, the College concluded on Thursday, October 2, 2025, its specialized training course entitled “Laboratory Safety.” The three-day course, held from September 30 to October 2, 2025, took place in the College’s lecture halls.
The course sessions were delivered by Asst. Lecturers Ahmed Abdulsalam, Hiba Hatem, and Rafah Ameer, and included both theoretical and practical components covering a variety of topics related to general and chemical safety in laboratories. The lectures focused on the major hazards associated with chemical substances and safe handling procedures, in addition to reviewing the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements and the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) system, in accordance with internationally recognized standards.
The course concluded with a practical demonstration of several laboratory instruments available at the College, explaining their operation and safe handling procedures, allowing participants to gain hands-on experience that reinforced their practical skills.
This course is part of a series of training programs organized by the College to raise awareness and knowledge among students and staff, and to foster a culture of safety within the university work environment.
