“The College of Pharmacy Organizes an Educational Lecture on the Challenges of Climate Change and Its Impact on Iraq”

As part of ongoing efforts to raise environmental awareness and promote sustainability, and within the activities of the Continuing Education Unit,
the College of Pharmacy at the University of Nineveh organized an in-person scientific lecture on Thursday, May 15, 2025, entitled:
“Climate Change and Its Impact on Iraq: Causes and Solutions.”

The lecture was delivered by Ms. Heba Hatim, a faculty member at the college, and targeted college staff with the aim of deepening their understanding of current environmental challenges and their growing impact on various vital sectors in the country.

The lecture addressed, through study and analysis, the accelerating climate changes and the increasing exposure of Iraq to extreme weather phenomena. It highlighted the serious consequences of these global transformations on food security, natural resources, and public health.

The session also included a review of key practical solutions and initiatives to confront these environmental challenges, emphasizing the adoption of clean energy policies, reduction of carbon emissions, and the strengthening of both national and international cooperation to achieve sustainable development goals and ensure a more stable environment for future generations.

The lecture witnessed active engagement from attendees, sparking meaningful discussions on the role of academic institutions in community awareness and the importance of scientific research in developing innovative solutions to adapt to climate change.
