Within the framework of scientific and academic collaboration between our University and the University of Mosul, the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Asst. Prof. Dr. Maisar Al-Qutji, participated as a supervisor in the doctoral dissertation entitled “The Effect of Certain Pharmaceutical Preparations on the Formation of Wormlike Micelles and the Measurement of Their Stability”, submitted by the doctoral candidate Bashar Zuheir Abdulhamid Ismail. The defense was held at the Department of Chemistry, College of Science, University of Mosul, on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.
The Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Hasan Al-Diwaji, also took part as a member of the examination committee. The defense was attended by the Head of the Department, a number of faculty members, and postgraduate students.
The dissertation focused on studying the impact of adding Metronidazole on the formation of wormlike micelles of a mixed surfactant system (SDS and CTAB), as well as measuring the drug’s stability in their environment. It further included an evaluation of the biological activity of Metronidazole against two bacterial species, in addition to examining its effect on the critical micelle concentration (CMC) of both SDS and CTAB at different temperatures.
At the conclusion of the defense, the Head of the Department, Prof. Salem Jassim Mohammed, on behalf of the Dean of the College, presented letters of appreciation to Dr. Maisar Al-Qutji and Dr. Hasan Al-Diwaji, in recognition of their scientific contributions in supervision and examination, and their active role in ensuring the success of this academic event.
