College of Pharmacy at the University of Nineveh Hosts Specialized Lecture on the PCR Technology Revolution in Medical Applications and Drug Development

As part of its ongoing efforts to advance scientific knowledge and stay abreast of the latest research developments, and within the activities of the Continuing Education Unit, the College of Pharmacy at the University of Nineveh organized a specialized scientific lecture on Sunday, June 1, 2025, entitled: “PCR-based Technique Revolutionizing Medical Application and Drug Development.” The lecture was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Rafah Amir Khudhur, who provided an in-depth exploration of the pivotal role of Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) technology in modern biomedical sciences. The presentation emphasized PCR’s critical function in the accurate diagnosis of viral and bacterial infections—particularly as a cornerstone in the detection of COVID-19—as well as in monitoring drug-gene interactions, and in forensic medicine through DNA identification. Furthermore, the speaker highlighted future prospects of PCR technology, especially its integration with artificial intelligence, forecasting an unprecedented transformation in scientific research, clinical applications, and pharmaceutical development.

This lecture is part of a series of scientific activities organized by the college to enrich academic knowledge and enhance the research capabilities of its faculty and staff.
