In line with the directives of the Presidency of the University of Ninevah to promote public health awareness and community service, and stemming from the pioneering role of the College of Pharmacy in disseminating health education among members of society, the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology organized an awareness campaign on diabetes on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, targeting families from Mosul along the Al-Josaq Corniche.
The organizing team included:
- Asst. Prof. Dr. Omar Thannon, Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs
- Dr. Iman Alaa Al-Din, Faculty Member, Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology
- Asst. Lecturer Firas Salah, Faculty Member, Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology
The campaign also featured the participation of a distinguished group of the College’s students, whose active engagement with citizens contributed greatly to the success of the event.
Coinciding with World Diabetes Day, the campaign offered free blood glucose testing, along with health counseling on proper nutrition, preventive strategies, and effective management of diabetes. The team also provided guidance on the correct use of antidiabetic medications, emphasizing the importance of regular medical follow-up and adherence to professional health advice.
This initiative reflects the College of Pharmacy’s ongoing commitment to enhancing community awareness of chronic diseases and to promoting a culture of prevention before treatment, thereby contributing to building a healthier and more informed society.
