Within the framework of the joint scientific cooperation agreement between the College of Pharmacy at the University of Nineveh and the Nineveh Health Directorate, the Deanship of the College convened a coordination meeting on Tuesday morning, 24 February 2026. The meeting was attended by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Maysar Mohammed Ali Al-Qutji; the Head of the Department of Pharmaceutics, Dr. Yasser Hazem; and the Clinical Training Coordinator, Dr. Abeer Mansour, in addition to several representatives of the Nineveh Health Directorate (Dr. Mahmoud Abdulhafidh, Dr. Shaimaa Hadi, and Dr. Athar Hussein) who are responsible for clinical training at Al-Salam Teaching Hospital.
The meeting commenced with a series of scientific presentations delivered by trainee pharmacists enrolled in the Clinical Pharmacy Program. During these presentations, the trainees highlighted their field experiences and the key competencies acquired throughout their training in healthcare institutions, reflecting the progress achieved in implementing contemporary clinical training programs.
The discussion further addressed the current status of field-based clinical training for students in teaching hospitals and explored mechanisms for its development in alignment with the evolving requirements of modern pharmacy practice. Participants also examined the primary challenges encountered by students during practical training and proposed a range of constructive recommendations and solutions aimed at enhancing the training environment and strengthening students’ scientific and professional competencies, in accordance with quality assurance and academic accreditation standards.
This meeting forms part of the College’s strategic plans to reinforce partnerships with healthcare institutions, thereby contributing to the preparation of graduates equipped with the scientific knowledge and professional skills necessary to effectively serve the healthcare sector and the wider community.
