A Distinguished Scientific Achievement by a Faculty Member at the College of Pharmacy, University of Nineveh

In a new scientific achievement added to the research record of the University of Nineveh, Dr. Iman Alaa Al-Din Ramadan, a faculty member at the College of Pharmacy, in collaboration with a research team from the University of Mosul, successfully registered four new fungal isolates for the first time in the global database of the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), one of the most prominent internationally recognized databases in the field of life sciences.

These strains were officially included in the international database and were assigned the following designations:

  1. EmNaAm1 – PX129033
  2. EmNaAm2 – PX129034
  3. EmNaAm3 – PX129035
  4. EmNaAm4 – PX129036

These fungal strains were isolated from samples of nuts and dried fruits contaminated with Aflatoxin B1, collected from the cities of Mosul and Duhok. This discovery carries significant environmental and health importance, as it opens new research avenues in the fields of mycology, environmental sciences, and preventive medicine.

This achievement was part of the research entitled:
“Biosynthesis of Copper Oxide Nanoparticles from Turmeric (Curcuma longa) and Their Effect on Aflatoxin B1-Producing Fungi Isolated from Some Nuts and Dried Fruits.”

In recognition of this scientific accomplishment, the President of the University of Nineveh, Professor Dr. Osama Ismail Al-Mashhadani, awarded the faculty member a Letter of Appreciation, along with a one-month service credit for the purposes of promotion and annual increment, in acknowledgment of her outstanding scientific efforts and her contribution to strengthening the University’s research standing.
