A Faculty Member at the College of Pharmacy, University of Nineveh Publishes a Scientific Research Article in a Scopus-Indexed International Journal

In alignment with the University of Nineveh’s strategic vision to strengthen its scientific presence in reputable international indexing databases and to enhance high-quality research output, the College of Pharmacy has achieved a new scientific accomplishment added to its academic record.

Dr. Abeer Mansour Abdulrasool, a faculty member at the College of Pharmacy, has published a collaborative research article in a prestigious international journal indexed in Scopus and ranked within the second quartile (Q2), namely the Journal of Pharmaceutical Innovation, in cooperation with a team of researchers.

The study is entitled:
“Combination of Zonisamide and Dexrazoxane in the Modulation of Doxorubicin-Induced Renal Damage in Rats”

The research aimed to mitigate renal damage induced by Doxorubicin, a chemotherapeutic agent widely used in cancer treatment. The study employed advanced approaches, including network pharmacology and molecular modeling, to elucidate the underlying mechanisms of drug-induced nephrotoxicity.

The findings demonstrated that the combination of Zonisamide and Dexrazoxane provides superior renal protection compared to the administration of each drug individually. This combination represents a promising therapeutic strategy to reduce chemotherapy-associated nephrotoxicity and improve patient safety.

This scientific contribution reflects the ongoing efforts of the College of Pharmacy to support research activities and enhance its academic presence in leading international journals, ultimately contributing to the service of society and the environment.
