In the context of strengthening scientific and academic cooperation between the University of Nineveh and the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Maysar Mohammed Ali Al-Qoutji, Dean of the College of Pharmacy at the University of Nineveh, participated as a member and supervisor in the examination of a master’s thesis submitted by postgraduate student Bushra Mohammed Yassin Hamdoon at the College of Pharmacy, University of Mosul, on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
The thesis, entitled “Enteric-Coated Metformin Tablets: Characteristics and Novel Application,” aimed to formulate and evaluate enteric-coated metformin tablets, investigate their efficacy, and compare their effects with those of immediate-release metformin and liraglutide.
The study findings demonstrated the potential of enteric coating as a strategy for targeted delivery of metformin to the intestine, with improvements observed in several metabolic parameters in experimental animals. These findings indicate the promising potential of this approach for the future development of pharmaceutical applications and provide a basis for further scientific investigation in this field.
The Dean’s participation in scientific thesis examinations reflects the College of Pharmacy’s active presence in academic forums and its commitment to strengthening research collaboration and facilitating the exchange of scientific expertise among higher education institutions.
