A Faculty Member at the College of Pharmacy, University of Nineveh, Publishes a Collaborative Research Paper in an International Journal Indexed in Scopus

In line with the University of Nineveh’s commitment to strengthening its scientific presence in reputable international databases and promoting high-quality research output, the College of Pharmacy has achieved a new scientific accomplishment, adding to its academic record.

Dr. Younis Ahmed, a faculty member at the College of Pharmacy, has co-authored a research paper published in Desalination and Water Treatment, a reputable international journal indexed in Scopus and ranked in the second quartile (Q2). The study was conducted in collaboration with several researchers from the University of Mosul.

The research paper is entitled:

“Valorization of Pea Husk Waste Coated with γ-Al₂O₃ Nanoparticles for Cationic Dye Removal from Water”

The study aims to develop a sustainable bio-based nanoadsorbent from pea husk waste coated with aluminum oxide nanoparticles for the removal of toxic malachite green dye from water. Under optimal conditions, the developed material achieved a maximum removal efficiency of 96.42%. The adsorption process was found to conform to the Langmuir isotherm model and pseudo-second-order kinetics. The results also demonstrated that the process was exothermic and spontaneous at lower temperatures, with the adsorbent retaining high efficiency over multiple reuse cycles.

This scientific contribution reflects the College of Pharmacy’s ongoing efforts to support scientific research and strengthen its academic presence in international scholarly journals, thereby contributing to environmental protection and serving the wider community.
