As part of the activities of the Continuing Education Unit, the College of Pharmacy at the University of Nineveh organized an in-person lecture on Thursday, May 8, 2025, titled “Climate Change and Its Impact on Iraq: Causes and Solutions.”
The lecture was delivered by Ms. Hiba Hatim, a faculty member at the college, and was directed toward pharmacy students with the aim of deepening their understanding of current environmental challenges and their implications for the country’s future.
The lecture offered an in-depth discussion on the accelerating climate changes and the extreme weather events that Iraq is expected to face in the near future as a result of global transformations. It included a comprehensive analysis of the underlying causes of these changes, both at the local and global levels.
Furthermore, the session reviewed practical solutions and proposals to address these environmental challenges and mitigate their negative impacts on various sectors in Iraq. The discussion also highlighted the ambitious national initiative to support clean energy and reduce carbon emissions, as well as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the role of this initiative in achieving these goals on the ground.
