The Dean of the College of Pharmacy at the University of Nineveh Publishes a Scientific Research Paper in a Prestigious International Journal.

In recognition of the distinguished scientific and academic presence of the College of Pharmacy at the University of Nineveh, the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Maysar Mohammed Ali Al-Qutji, has co-authored a scientific research paper entitled:

“Enteric-Coated Metformin Tablets: In vitro Release and Metabolic Outcomes in High Fat Diet Fed Rats”

The research was published in the Journal of Pharmaceutical Innovation, a prestigious international journal published by Springer Nature, in Volume 22 (2027).

The study focused on the development of enteric-coated metformin tablets and the investigation of their drug-release characteristics and metabolic effects. This was achieved through in vitro evaluation of their performance and assessment of their outcomes in an animal model of rats fed a high-fat diet.

The findings demonstrated that the enteric coatings effectively minimized drug release under acidic conditions while ensuring rapid release in a medium simulating the intestinal environment. Furthermore, promising results were observed, including an enhanced GLP-1-related response and improvements in certain lipid profile parameters, particularly total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, compared with the non-enteric-coated metformin group.

This study highlights the importance of pharmaceutical formulation technologies and targeted drug delivery systems, as well as their potential role in advancing pharmaceutical preparations and improving their therapeutic efficacy.

This scientific achievement reflects the continued research contributions of the academic staff at the College of Pharmacy, University of Nineveh, and their commitment to supporting scientific research and advancing the College’s academic and scientific standing.

We extend our sincere congratulations to the Dean of the College and wish him continued success, distinction, and further achievements in his academic and research career.
