The College of Information Technology organized a workshop titled “Selecting Scientific Journals in International Databases” as part of its activities plan for the current academic year.
The workshop was presented by Dr. Ahmed Qasim Ahmed and Dr. Karam Mohammed Mahdi Saleh.
The workshop targeted a group of college instructors and took place on Monday, November 20, 2025.
The workshop addressed the mechanisms for selecting reputable scientific journals from global databases (Scopus and Web of Science), how to distinguish between indexed and predatory journals, and the importance of publishing in accredited journals and its impact on evaluating the academic and research performance of instructors.
The workshop concluded with a discussion session during which a number of interventions and questions were raised by the attendees. The necessity of adhering to the standards of sound academic publishing and encouraging instructors to publish in internationally accredited journals was emphasized.
