University of Nineveh Organizes an Introductory Workshop on the National Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Applications Championship

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Nineveh, Professor Dr. Osama Al-Mashhadani, and the direct supervision of the Dean of the College of Information Technology,

the University of Nineveh organized a specialized workshop on Monday, March 2, 2026, entitled “The National University Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Applications Championship.”

The workshop was held with the diligent follow-up of the University Coordinator, Dr. Lubna Dhunoun Ahmedi, Head of the Artificial Intelligence Department at the College of Information Technology, and Dr. Omar Yassin from the College of Electronics Engineering. It was attended by academics and students interested in modern technology fields.

The workshop was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Azhar Abdul Latif Al-Obaidi, a specialist in artificial intelligence technologies for signal processing from the Mechatronics Engineering Department at the College of Engineering, University of Mosul, and a member of the championship’s organizing committee.

The workshop focused on highlighting the details of the “National University Championship,” with the presenter reviewing the following key themes:

  • Definition of the Championship: The nature of the competitions and the technical fields they cover.
  • Vision and Mission: Striving to promote digital innovation among Iraqi university students.
  • Strategic Objectives: Developing technical skills, supporting entrepreneurial projects in robotics, and creating a competitive environment that keeps pace with global developments in artificial intelligence.

This workshop comes within the framework of the Ministry and the University of Nineveh’s ongoing efforts to enhance the role of artificial intelligence in the educational process and to encourage students to actively participate in national events that integrate academic and applied aspects
