Under the patronage of the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Osama Al-Mashhadani, and in the presence of the Chairman of the Parliamentary Higher Education Committee, Professor Dr. Muzahim Al-Khayyat, and supervised by the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Assistant Professor Dr. Maysar Al-Qutachi, and coinciding with the global Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the College of Pharmacy held an educational scientific symposium on Sunday, October 20, 2024, under the title “Early Detection: Health and Life.”
The symposium featured lectures by a distinguished group of physicians from the Nineveh Health Directorate, including:
1. Dr. Ruba Ahmed
2. Dr. Shaimaa Hashem
3. Dr. Saad Zaghloul
The symposium was attended by several academic and administrative staff members of the university.
The lectures focused on raising awareness about early detection of breast cancer and its diagnosis through regular check-ups to prevent the onset and progression of the disease. They also offered advice on how to avoid the risk of cancer. Additionally, free clinical examinations were conducted for attendees by the female doctors. The symposium also featured contributions from surgical consultants, Dr. Muzahim Al-Khayyat, Dr. Osama Al-Mashhadani, and Dr. Taha Hassan Taha, enriching the event with valuable recommendations.
At the end of the symposium, Al-Khayyat presented certificates of appreciation to the speakers. The Dean of the College of Pharmacy also presented bouquets of flowers to the Chairman of the Parliamentary Higher Education Committee, the President of the University, and the Dean of the College of Law.
On the sidelines of the symposium, an exhibition was opened featuring a collection of awareness posters, artworks, and handicrafts, wishing the College of Pharmacy continued success and creativity.
