Under the directives of the University President, Prof. Dr. Osama Al-Mashhadani, encouraging participation in all scientific forums, Dr. Wissam Saud, a specialist in gastrointestinal surgery and a faculty member in the Department of Surgery at the College of Medicine, along with a group of sixth-year students, participated in the activities of the First International Scientific Conference on Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases and Surgery in Nineveh Province. The event was held on Thursday and Friday, January 9–10, 2025, organized by the Iraqi Association of Gastroenterology and Hepatology under the theme: “Inflammation and Ulceration of the Colon and Intestines.”
The conference was attended by Dr. Muhammad Suleiman Al-Houri, President of the Iraqi Doctors Syndicate in Nineveh, along with distinguished gastrointestinal and liver surgeons from across Iraq and guest lecturers from various countries worldwide.
Dr. Wissam Saud, along with a group of students, presented several research papers addressing the latest advancements in the treatment and surgeries of ulcerative colitis and intestinal diseases. This participation aims to exchange expertise and keep pace with developments in the field, contributing to the advancement of healthcare in our province and beloved country.
