A delegation from the University of Ninevah, led by the University President, Prof. Dr. Osama Al-Mashhadani, visited Mosul Airport on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. The delegation included the Dean of the College of Electronics Engineering, the Dean of the College of Information Technology, their deputies, and the Director of the University’s Reconstruction and Projects Department. They were received by the Governor’s Technical Advisor, Expert Engineer Dr. Qusay Hajim, along with a group of supervising engineering staff.
Prof. Dr. Osama Al-Mashhadani and the accompanying delegation were briefed on the progress of the airport’s rehabilitation. They praised the support of the Prime Minister, Engineer Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, and the efforts of the Governor of Nineveh, Prof. Abdul Qader Al-Dakhil, as well as those working on the rehabilitation project. The delegation emphasized the importance of establishing a modern airport with international standards to revive Nineveh Governorate, given the airport’s critical role in serving the local population and enhancing economic, commercial, and tourism growth. Dr. Al-Mashhadani announced the university’s commitment to mobilize its resources—drawing on the expertise of its engineering, technical, and academic staff—to support Mosul Airport.
Engineer Dr. Qusay Hajim provided an overview of the airport and its vital facilities, noting that the rehabilitation work is progressing rapidly and with high-quality standards, with a completion rate of 72%. He added that the airport is scheduled to open at the beginning of June to provide exceptional services to the governorate’s residents.
At the end of the visit, the university delegation, accompanied by the supervising and executing engineering teams, conducted a field tour that included the aircraft runway and associated facilities. They expressed their appreciation and joy at this significant achievement, which represents a qualitative leap in the progress and prosperity of the governorate on all fronts.
