The College of Nursing Organizes an Awareness and Educational Seminar Titled “Raising Awareness of the Dangers of Drugs and Psychotropic Substances and Their Negative Impacts on Individuals and Society”

Under the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and under the patronage of the President of the University of Ninevah, Prof. Dr. Osama Ismail Al-Mashhadani, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Nursing, Professor Dr. Ridwan Hussein Ibrahim, the College of Nursing at the University of Ninevah,in collaboration with the Anti-Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Directorate in Nineveh Governorate, organized an awareness and educational seminar on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.

The seminar, titled “Raising Awareness of the Dangers of Drugs and Psychotropic Substances and Their Negative Impacts on Individuals and Society,” was attended by several department officials, faculty members, and students of the college.

The lecture was delivered by Mr. Falah Mahdi Saleh and Mr. Louay Mohammed Hassan, representatives from the Media Division of the Anti-Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Directorate. They covered comprehensive topics, including the types of drugs, their effects on individuals and society, and methods of prevention. They also highlighted the psychological and social consequences of drug abuse and discussed scientific and educational approaches to curbing this phenomenon, emphasizing the importance of community solidarity in combating it.

This seminar is part of the College of Nursing’s efforts at the University of Ninevah to enhance community awareness and promote health education among students and the general public. Through such events, the college aims to shed light on issues that threaten individual and societal well-being and underscores the importance of joint collaboration between academic institutions and security entities in providing an environment free from destructive societal plagues, contributing to building a safer and more stable future.
