The College of Nursing Holds Its Scientific Symposium Titled: “Basic Sciences and Medical Technology: A Partnership for Better Health”

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Ninevah, Prof. Dr. Osama Ismail Al-Mashhadani, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Nursing, Prof. Dr. Radwan Hussein Al-Ukaydi, and in the presence of the University Vice President for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Jaafar Ramadan Mohammed, and the University Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Ammar Saadoun Hamed, the first day of the scientific symposium titled “Basic Sciences and Medical Technology: A Partnership for Better Health” kicked off on the morning of wednesday, April 16, 2025. The symposium is organized by the Department of Basic Nursing Sciences in collaboration with Al-Qabas Private College and is held at the auditorium of the College of Nursing – University of Ninevah, spanning two days.

The symposium began with the Iraqi national anthem, followed by welcoming speeches delivered by the organizing committee, which highlighted the goals of the symposium and its role in supporting the modern healthcare system.

The first day included a scientific session chaired by Prof. Dr. Hamid Jundari Jumaa Al-Jumaili, Dean of the College of Nursing at Al-Hadba University College. The session featured several specialized scientific lectures, most notably:
1. “The Role of Microbiology in Medical Sciences”, presented by Prof. Dr. Basma Ahmed Abdullah, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs at Al-Qabas Private College, which discussed the relationship between microorganisms and modern medical innovations.
2. “The Sentinel Lymph Node: Its Importance and Methods of Identification”, delivered by Dr. Radwan Khudr Mohammed Ali Al-Jammas, covering the latest technologies used in tracking the sentinel lymph node as a vital tool for early cancer detection.
3. “The Role of Medical Technologies in Bone Marrow Transplantation”, presented by Dr. Mudein Mohammed Fawzi, Director of Al-Hadba Specialized Hospital for Hematologic Diseases and Bone Marrow Transplantation, focusing on the use of modern technology to support transplantation procedures and treat genetic diseases.
4. “Computer-Guided Dental Implantation”, presented by Dr. Ruaa Younis Al-Rawi, Assistant Director for Scientific Affairs at Al-Salam Hospital, which demonstrated the use of artificial intelligence and 3D printing technologies to enhance dental implant outcomes.
5. “Phage Therapy”, delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Anmar Ahmed Dawood, offering an advanced scientific perspective on using bacteriophages as a promising alternative to traditional antibiotics, especially amid rising antibiotic resistance. He also addressed recent experiments in this field and the challenges of applying this treatment model in healthcare systems.

The scientific session was marked by rich discussions and knowledge exchange among participants, reflecting a deep commitment to linking scientific research with practical applications in the healthcare sector.

At the conclusion of the first day, participants expressed their gratitude to the symposium organizers, praising the excellent organization and purposeful scientific content. This event is considered a significant step towards strengthening partnerships between academic and healthcare institutions and serves as a gateway to building a scientifically capable generation ready to keep pace with the medical and technological revolution to achieve a more advanced and efficient healthcare system.
