As part of the Continuing Education Unit’s activities, the College of Pharmacy at the University of Ninevah organized an important in-person lecture on Thursday, May 8, 2025, titled “Climate Change and Its Impact on Iraq: Causes and Solutions.”
The lecture was delivered by Ms. Heba Hatim, a faculty member at the college, and was aimed at enriching pharmacy students’ understanding of current environmental challenges and their implications for the country’s future.
The session provided an in-depth exploration of the accelerating climate changes and the extreme weather events Iraq is likely to face in the near future as a result of global shifts. It also included a detailed analysis of the causes of these changes on both local and global levels.
Additionally, the lecture highlighted practical solutions and proposed measures to address these environmental issues and mitigate their negative effects across various sectors in Iraq. The discussion also focused on the ambitious national initiative to support clean energy and reduce carbon emissions, as well as its alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals and the role this initiative plays in achieving them on the ground.
