As part of ongoing efforts to raise environmental awareness and promote sustainability, and within the activities of the Continuing Education Unit,
the College of Pharmacy at the University of Ninevah organized an in-person scientific lecture on Thursday, May 15, 2025, titled:
“Climate Change and Its Impact on Iraq: Causes and Solutions.”
The lecture was delivered by Ms. Hiba Hatim, a lecturer at the college, and was aimed at the college’s staff members to deepen their understanding of current environmental challenges and their growing impact on various vital sectors in the country.
The lecture provided an in-depth study and analysis of the accelerating climate changes and the increasingly frequent extreme weather events affecting Iraq. It highlighted the serious consequences of these global transformations on food security, natural resources, and public health.
The session also presented key practical solutions and initiatives to address these environmental challenges, including the adoption of clean energy policies, reduction of carbon emissions, and the strengthening of both national and international cooperation to achieve sustainable development goals and ensure a more stable environment for future generations.
The lecture was met with positive engagement from the audience, sparking essential discussions about the role of academic institutions in community awareness and the importance of scientific research in developing innovative solutions to adapt to climate change.
