Under the patronage of the President of the University of Ninevah,Prof. Dr. Osama Al-Mashhadani, and in the presence of the University Vice President for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Jaafar Mohammed Ramadan, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Asst. Prof. Dr. Maysar Mohammed Ali Al-Qutachi, the College of Pharmacy organized an awareness scientific seminar on Monday, September 29, 2025, entitled:
“How to Protect Our Society from the Danger of Extremism,”
in cooperation with the High Commission for Human Rights and the Extremism Committee in Nineveh Province.
The seminar targeted college students and university staff, aiming to raise awareness about the dangers of extremism, terrorism, and violence, while highlighting their causes and methods of prevention, as part of the university’s pioneering role in serving the community and promoting social peace.
The seminar featured lectures by:
1. Dr. Nagham Luqman – Head of the Publishing and Awareness Division at the High Commission for Human Rights.
2. Mr. Dalawer Saifuddin – Head of the Human Rights Department in Nineveh Province.
The speakers addressed the phenomenon of extremism and its negative impacts on society, particularly on youth and university students. They proposed a number of solutions and approaches to reduce this dangerous trend. The lectures also covered various types of extremism (religious, social, ideological, and political) and the reasons behind its spread, including family disintegration, neglect of parental roles, youth idleness, and difficult economic conditions.
The seminar witnessed scientific discussions and constructive dialogues among attendees, which enriched the topic, deepened understanding, and promoted a culture of prevention.
At the conclusion of the event, the lecturers and members of the organizing committee were honored with certificates of appreciation in recognition of their outstanding efforts in making the seminar a success.
