As part of the follow-up to the recommendations of the joint scientific symposium held by the University of Ninevah in cooperation with the American University of Baghdad, titled “Occupational Health and Safety Management System According to ISO 45001:2028 Requirements and Quality of Healthcare Institutions According to ISO 7101:2023 Requirements,”
the University of Ninevah, represented by its President, Professor Dr. Osama Ismail Al-Mashhadani, held an extensive meeting on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at the campus of the American University of Baghdad.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the American University of Baghdad, as well as the President and representatives of the Association of Private Hospitals.
During the meeting, participants discussed a proposal to establish a National Health Institutional Accreditation Authority in Iraq, which would oversee the implementation of quality and institutional accreditation standards in both public and private hospitals, in coordination with relevant entities in the health sector. This initiative aims to enhance the quality of healthcare services and improve the efficiency of healthcare institutions across the country.
This meeting comes within the framework of joint efforts between the two universities to support the adoption of modern quality management systems and to develop the structure of health accreditation in line with international standards, thereby contributing to the achievement of sustainable health development goals in Iraq.
