In the presence of the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Mazahim Al-Khayyat, along with a distinguished group of University Council members, faculty, and students, the President of the University of Ninevah, Prof. Dr. Osama Ismail Al-Mashhadani, inaugurated the Department of Artificial Intelligence at the College of Information Technology on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, for the 2025–2026 academic year.
During the opening ceremony, the University President, accompanied by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Manar Younis Kashmoula, and the visiting delegation, conducted a field tour of the department’s classrooms and scientific laboratories, where they reviewed the advanced laboratory equipment and technologies recently provided to the department.
The inauguration included a ceremonial program that began with speeches delivered by the University President, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Higher Education, the Dean of the College, and the Head of the Artificial Intelligence Department. They all emphasized the significance of establishing this department as a step toward keeping pace with rapid global advancements in artificial intelligence and modern technologies. The speakers highlighted that the department will play a vital role in preparing qualified graduates capable of serving the labor market and contributing to the ongoing global digital transformation.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the University President presented the Department Establishment Shield to the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Higher Education, who, in turn, presented shields of appreciation to the University President and his scientific and administrative assistants. Additionally, letters of appreciation were awarded to the members of the Department Establishment Committee, wishing the newly founded department continued success and prosperity.
