The Head of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the College of Medicine,
Assistant Professor Dr. Bassam Adwar Hanna, participated on Monday, December 1, 2025, as a member of the defense committee for two Iraqi Board theses in the field of Clinical Chemistry submitted by students Maryam Hani Abduljalal and Omar Maisar Hamid.
The defense was held in the Postgraduate Studies Hall at the College of Medicine / University of Mosul. The two examination committees consisted of:
1. Prof. Dr. Nizar Samir Abdulwahab (University of Basrah / College of Medicine)
2. Asst. Prof. Dr. Bassam Adwar Hanna (University of Ninevah / College of Medicine)
3. Consultant Physician Ali Abdullah Saeed (Nineveh Health Directorate)
4. Asst. Prof. Dr. Sara Khairuddin Muhy Al-Din (University of Mosul / College of Medicine) – Member and Supervisor
The first thesis, submitted by Maryam Hani Abduljalal, examined the relationship between serum magnesium levels and the occurrence of cardiovascular complications in patients with acute myocardial infarction.
Meanwhile, the second thesis, submitted by Omar Maisar Hamid, investigated the role of the triglyceride-glucose index in predicting the severity of coronary artery disease.
