Under the patronage of the President of the University of Nineveh, Professor Dr. Osama Al-Mashhadani, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Medicine, Assistant Professor Dr. Mo’min Junaid Al-Dabouni, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Medicine – University of Nineveh, in cooperation with the College of Information Technology / Department of Artificial Intelligence, organized a scientific seminar entitled “Technology and Women” on Tuesday morning, December 23, 2025.
The seminar included two main themes. The first theme, entitled “Health Technology and Women’s Right to Access Healthcare,” addressed the role of technology in the early detection of diseases. This theme was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Iman Ghanem, Head of the Women’s Affairs Unit. In addition, Assistant Professor Dr. Zahraa Abdul Qader discussed modern medical technology and its importance in developing healthcare services.
The second theme was entitled “Women and Technology: A Growing Role in Building the Digital Future,” and was presented by Lecturer Dr. Lubna Dhanoun from the College of Information Technology and Assistant Lecturer Zeina Abdul Salam. This theme highlighted women’s contributions to the technological field and their increasing role in keeping pace with digital transformation.
The seminar emphasized the significant role of information and communication technology in achieving continuous development across various fields of life, particularly in the healthcare sector. It also stressed the importance of artificial intelligence in the early detection of diseases, given its clear impact on alleviating human suffering in an increasingly fast-paced digital world.
Furthermore, the seminar indicated that the rapid advancements in technology have created a new reality for women by providing them with opportunities to work from home and make use of their latent potentials without the need to go outside, thereby contributing to their empowerment and strengthening their active role in society.
