University of Ninevah Participates in the First Scientific Forum on Cybersecurity in Iraq

The University of Ninevah, represented by the Center for Electronic Computing and the College of Information Technology, participated in the First Scientific Forum on Cybersecurity in Iraq, hosted by Al-Naji University in Baghdad in collaboration with Al-Karkh University of Science and the Middle Technical University. The forum included prominent academics and researchers specializing in cybersecurity from various Iraqi universities.

Representing the University of Ninevah were:
• Dr. Ahmed Nashwan Al-Dabbagh – Director of the Center for Electronic Computing
• Eng. Harith Mahmoud – Center for Electronic Computing
• Dr. Karam Mohammed Mahdi Saleh – Representative of the College of Information Technology

Eng. Harith Mahmoud presented a research paper titled:
“A Practical Framework for Building Cyber Infrastructures in Iraqi Governmental and Academic Institutions.”
The paper addressed the main challenges in developing secure cyber systems and proposed modern practical solutions for designing and developing digital infrastructures capable of countering increasing threats. The paper received notable academic attention, and its recommendations were adopted as part of the forum’s outcomes.

It is noteworthy that the University of Ninevah was the only university from the northern region to contribute a research paper at this forum, reflecting its distinguished academic presence and active role in supporting scientific research while keeping pace with rapid developments in cybersecurity and digital transformation.

This participation aligns with the University of Ninevah’s commitment to strengthening scientific cooperation with universities and academic institutions and contributing to the establishment of a secure digital environment that supports Iraq’s development and innovation.
