Faculty Member at the University of Ninevah Defends Her PhD Dissertation

Assistant Lecturer Nadia Shaker Jumaa, affiliated with the Personnel and Employment Division at the Presidency of the University of Ninevah, defended her doctoral dissertation. The defense took place at the College of Arts, University of Mosul – Department of English Language, on Saturday, 8 February 2026. Her dissertation was titled:

“Ambiguity and Inference in Kurdish Humorous Discourse with Reference to English: A Study in Light of Relevance Theory.”

The researcher, recognized as one of the distinguished academic staff at the University of Ninevah, conducted a discourse-analytical study exploring the mechanisms of ambiguity and inference in humorous discourse, applying Relevance Theory and utilizing comparative reference to the English language.

In this regard, the President of the University of Ninevah congratulated Dr. Nadia Shaker Jumaa on this scientific achievement, wishing her continued success and further contributions to the academic and scientific journey.
