Distinguished Academic Presence of Law Students at the International Jessup Competition

Students from the College of Law at University of Ninevah achieved an honorable academic participation in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, one of the world’s most prestigious competitions specializing in public international law moot court proceedings.

The competition simulates a hypothetical international dispute in which students prepare written memorials and deliver oral pleadings in English before a panel modeled after the International Court of Justice. This experience enhances their legal research skills, precise analysis of international treaties and texts, and the construction of well-founded professional legal arguments.

The national qualifying rounds were held in Erbil at the hall of the Kurdistan Bar Association, in a highly competitive atmosphere that reflected advanced academic standards and a strong scholarly spirit. The College was represented by a team of five students under the supervision of distinguished faculty members, and in the presence of the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Zeina Ghanem Al-Obaidi, who commended their efforts and presented them with the College Shield in recognition of their outstanding representation.

At the conclusion of the competition, the team received certificates of appreciation from the organizing bodies—an achievement that embodies the College’s commitment to fostering excellence, engaging with international legal experiences, and strengthening its academic presence in global forums.
