In line with the University of Ninevah’s commitment to enhancing its record of high-quality research publications in reputable international databases, Assistant Lecturer Warqaa Omar Abd from the College of Pharmacy has published a joint scientific research paper in collaboration with:
• Dr. Khalaf Ajaj Hussein – Nineveh Directorate of Education
• Professor Dr. Mushtaq Abd Dawood – University of Mosul
The research, entitled:
“Preparation of Cobalt Nanostructures Using Pulsed Nd:YAG Laser”,
was published in Momento, a journal indexed in Scopus and ranked within the second quartile (Q2).
The study investigates the preparation of cobalt nanostructures using the Pulsed Laser Ablation in Liquid (PLAL) technique with an Nd:YAG laser operating at a wavelength of 1064 nm. The energy and number of laser pulses were varied to examine their effects on the optical properties of the synthesized nanostructures.
The results revealed three values of the energy band gap, with a slight increase observed as the number of pulses increased. In contrast, pulse energy showed a limited effect. Meanwhile, the absorption coefficient, refractive index, and optical conductivity increased with the total number of laser pulses.
This scientific contribution reflects the College of Pharmacy’s ongoing efforts to support research activities and strengthen its academic presence in international scientific journals, ultimately contributing to community service and environmental advancement.
