As part of the active scientific engagement of faculty members at the College of Medicine and in support of academic collaboration among Iraqi universities, Dr. Shaimaa Abdulhadi Jasim, a faculty member at the College of Medicine, University of Ninevah, participated as a member of the examination committee for the Master’s thesis entitled:
“Evaluation of Cardiac Function among Athletic and Non-Athletic University Students in the City of Mosul,”
submitted by the student Taqa Muwaffaq Attash. The defense took place on Monday, 16/2/2026, at Al-Razi Hall, College of Medicine, University of Mosul.
The examination committee included a distinguished group of professors specialized in the field of Physiology. The session reviewed the study’s objectives, methodology, and analysis of results, which focused on comparing echocardiographic parameters, vital signs, and blood lipid levels between athletic and non-athletic students, in addition to examining variables associated with cardiac function.
The findings revealed clear physiological cardiac remodeling among athletic students, with differences associated with gender. The committee recommended expanding future research to deepen scientific understanding of cardiac changes accompanying physical activity across different athletic groups.
This participation reflects the University of Ninevah’s commitment to supporting the scientific activities of its faculty members and fostering engagement with rigorous research experiences, contributing to the advancement of medical knowledge, the enhancement of academic standards, and service to the community.
