Within the framework of enhancing scientific and academic cooperation between Iraqi universities, Assistant Professor Dr. Khalid Ibrahim Mohammed, Assistant Dean of the College of Nursing for Administrative and Financial Affairs at the University of Ninevah, participated in a Master’s thesis defense committee in the Department of English / College of Education for Humanities – University of Mosul, on Sunday, March 15, 2026.
The thesis was entitled: “Analysis of the Overlap of Speech Acts in Political Speeches,” submitted by the student Rania Saleh Suleiman Mahmoud. It addressed the concept of the overlap of speech acts in political discourse, the strategies that contribute to the occurrence of this overlap, as well as the motivations governing its use. The study aimed to analyze a selected set of political speeches and to identify the possibilities of overlap of speech acts within them, demonstrating that this overlap is characterized by flexibility and negotiability within the discourse context.
