The Technical Training Division at the Electronic Computing Center at University of Ninevah organized a specialized workshop on Wednesday, 6/5/2026, for university staff specialized in information technology and communication technologies, entitled:
“Increasing Lifetime for Wireless Sensor Networks Based on LEACH Protocol”
The workshop was delivered by:
- Assistant Lecturer Omar Nizar Hamdoun / College of Information Technology
- Assistant Lecturer Alaa Basil Khalil / College of Information Technology
The workshop addressed both the theoretical and practical aspects of wireless sensor networks, with a particular focus on the challenges related to energy consumption, which is considered one of the most significant factors affecting network efficiency and operational continuity.
The workshop also highlighted the LEACH (Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy) protocol as one of the most important protocols used to improve energy efficiency in wireless sensor networks. The protocol relies on clustering techniques and the periodic rotation of cluster heads, which helps achieve balanced energy consumption among different nodes and extends the operational lifetime of the network.
The workshop witnessed remarkable interaction from the participants through several scientific discussions and interventions that enriched its topics and enhanced the cognitive and practical benefits of the presented content.
